This race is not for the weekend mountain runner as the 10 miles are mostly UPHILL. The tshirt from this race proudly says "GOT HILLS?" on the back --- and just when you think you have run the last hill, another one is around the corner. It is mostly paved with some dirt roads and has some really great views in Wilton and Peterborough, NH. The finish is up to Miller State Park Pack Monadnock and is very steep paved uphill climb. There is one or two spots you can walk big strides and as long I am am ahead of the guy trying to run I think it is OK to walk. :) I started off running 7 min miles - trying to stay up with the "fast girls" -- Team Inov-8 Gina & Abby are leading the way and had these great racing flats that I just had to order.... today was my first race with them on and I LOVE THEM! Yay! A great fast shoe, that mentally gets you there --- can't wait to actually run with them in the trail next race.
This is the second Pack Monadnock for me so I have to compare times. I forgot my Forerunner 405, so I can only post the official time from the race. We went to breakfast at Nonni's and took the scenic drive home past the Quabbin through Ware.... now home to see that they were so fast in getting the results up - I can be psyched to see I am holding my place in the series!
